in june our friends at octane coffee hosted an event entitled "ATL Kicks" which featured a silent auction for new pairs of PF Flyers fancied-up by area artists. each artist received a single pair of shoes to flip using their preferred medium and display in the shop for the bidding and viewing pleasure of those in attendance. many amazing pairs were (re)created and a sizeable purse of $1000 was raised and subsequently donated to the non-profit "Coffee Kids." a successful event, not to be without our presence.

no need to argue, we couldn't (really) do shoes so we had to do a shirt. a shirt that would be too ridiculous to pass up despite the all night beer specials. in may, then, i began brainstorming with designer extraordinaire Shyminja to develop what would eventually become the "Tales From The Kicks" tee. the idea was simple: maintain the design integrity from the old "Tales from the Crypt" comic series but update it for today's sneaker pimp and 5150 connoisseur - no artificially hyped allover print, no throw-back-eighties-electro nonsense, just good old-fashioned five-color screen printing. some emails were sent, some phone calls made and in less than a week we had the outline. that kid is good.
